So the answer to your question in dark ink, regarding the noise notifications, the answer is no.

Our commitment to you, was not to disturb you by calling, knocking, or otherwise engaging you  when you are in "deep concentration" for your work.  You mentioned ear plugs would cover any incidental routine life sounds from outside, and I clearly told you that Jim does yard work. You made NO mention of having some sort of serious hearing problem and the inability to concentrate from the least normal sounds of a rural homestead in the woods.

You cannot be serious when you move in and expect us to keep from running tools for six days a week, and then ask us to  tell you___what___hours we will be running a simple lawn tractor on the one day you deem" enough" to complete the yard work necessary to keep the yard and grounds neat and safe, the trees and shrubs trimmed, the well house winterized, the garden hoses blew out, the leaves gathered, wood cut and loaded, sidewalks swept, winter boards put in place around the base of the cabin, air conditioners removed and stored, tens of bushels of leaves and then snow removal---without the benefit of electrical and motorized tools? in a half day a week?

The second problem is your attitude, which if you feel I am being unkind here---I have never been spoken to so rudely in my entire life as the day you answered me and said you had "no time to talk to me"!  You presented yourself as a kind, quiet person,  I never expected this. I'm not living on the same property with someone who won't even speak to me.

As for the matter of your new job-- that is your business, and it doesn't involve us except for our commitment not to disturb you, we were not part of the deal, and what goes on in the yard and the rest of the three acres here, is of no consequence to you nor under your control, and I hope that your veiled threat to "eliminate distractions" was not meant to intimidate us--but rather to remind yourself that there are ear sound protectors that eliminate jet engine noises, and you can purchase them both online, and at Best Buy in Traverse City. My son-in-law says Bose makes one that is very effective as I'm positive you know all about. You could also have considered working nights, as you would have a window of 18 plus hours of silence to complete your work.

After I read your letter of this morning, no matter how hard I rationalized that this sweet lady who presented herself as a happy, quiet, Mass loving little recluse might still be here somewhere, I took my bp--it was 162 over 95, with a pulse rate of 102.  Some folks react this way, other folks eat, but you will agree, not good. I have wasted a half day of my life working on bringing it back into a safe zone, but that's my problem. It's one of my minor ones, right now.

Jim will be doing fall yard work on days when it is not raining, or too cold for his 83 year old bones, as he has done for 35 years. He will be using the lawn tractor. No particular hours, between 11 and 3. He does not do yard work on Sundays.

On another note, one of our snow blowing routines, is a pathway completely around your  cabin, as, if and when the roof has to be raked for snow, there has to be a place to walk, and a place to blow it back. 200 inches of snow in this area, IN THIS YARD is average. That's 200 inches.  the roofs get cleared 2 to 4 times, with a foot and more of packed snow each time. The paths WILL be cleared for safety, and you may shovel if you wish. Its really beautiful.

This is how we survive.

In view of the above information, I expect you will want to find a home you don't share a yard with old, set in their way property owners who view being clean, caring for their yard, their environment, and a 75 year old settlers cabin, their daily responsibilities. I am truley sorry that our agreement was blatantly misunderstood, by all concerned.

We will be closing the cabin in December, due to reasons of health.  If you wish to pay another month's rent, you may stay until then. The internet will be on in the cabin until then. If you have a problem with it, let me know.

Sharon, I need to schedule my work commitments on at least a weekly basis.
It's best for everyone if that is in writing (i.e. by email).

Can you commit to providing, on a calendar week basis, accurate noise notifications?
If not, I will update my client, and let them decide how to proceed.

The one year contract I am working on has strict requirements, because I am making changes to meet government regulatory changes (i.e. no schedule slippage is allowed).
If I miss ANY deadline, they can:
 1. terminate the contract
 2. NOT pay me anything, for 100% of the hours I've worked
 3. take a completion bond that I have on deposit (i.e. I would lose a minimum of $5,000 cash)
 4. sue me for damages (which will rise the farther I get into the year long duration)

I missed my first deadline.
They asked what the issues were, and I explained, in detail.

They offered me an opportunity to continue, only if I committed to "eliminate distractions", which is everything which has already proven to detract from my ability to work.
I can not afford to lose this contract.

We need to have a visit so I can fill you in, [Tenant], what about 11 thursday~

My home or your home?  I'm good with either one.

Thanks for the reminder of the dvd, I had it all laid out for you and never handed it over!

Getting excited about Hughes Net.

Thanks for the update Sharon.
Are there any other noise events between now and Nov 8, other than
Thursday Nov 2?
Nov 8 is my next deadline (i.e. two weeks from today).

Last Thursday, Jim told me that Thursdays would be yardwork-noise
days, so I have scheduled to be away for the entire afternoon tomorrow.
I would like to know the planned start time and estimated end time
for Thursday Nov 2.

Reminder:  I need to work both before and after those time windows on
those days.

Tomorrow:
1. Before I leave, I'll put the phone & charger in a plastic bag on
the outside door knob.  Thanks for the loan & your efforts to try to
mute it.  I've bought a new cell card, and will use that instead.
2. Could you leave my DVD ("Lions for Lambs") either inside the cabin
or in a bag on the doorknob?  I'll be swapping some DVDs with friends
when I do my Wisconsin trip, and that's one of the ones I know they'll like. :)

Thanks!
