IowaGeeks is an "information cooperative" mainly focused on the needs of Professionals and other passionate Skilled Workers.

• city/town and county overviews (targeted at visitors and new residents)
• employment reviews (all by confirmed employees, whose identities are protected)
• Accountable Landlord & Tenant services bureau, including our multi-State deadbeat landlord & tenant lists
• utility company reviews (privacy practices & payment errors)
• hotel/motel reviews: either detailed, or quick external inspection (mainly aimed at estimating smoke/smoke-free status and potential noise issues (this is a great way to crank up review points!))
• the ever popular Virtual Caucus
• any other services, reviews, or events that might be of interest to Geeks

Most of our databases are available to members only.
Candidates for membership must contribute a significant number of reviews, and perform other Service (100 hours per year to any verifiable honorable volunteer project, with at least 1000 total hours).

• "tagged" email addresses, which can be used to give out a unique email address to every forum/vendor/etc, and are used as part of our landlord tenant tracking program

Email Terms of Service reminder:

1. File attachments are forbidden.
   We block all email messages with any file attachment.
   Currently, there is no means for our Account holders to see any record of those blocked emails.
   If you need to send a file attachment to an IowaGeeks email account, you will need to make special arrangements with the intended recipient.
   Warning: If prior arrangements were not made, the sender will be automatically blocked and added to a shared (globally) blocklist.
   If you suspect that you have been so blocked, the only way to contact us is via the "contact us" link below.
2. We quarantine or completely block all email messages with any URL (aka "web link").
3. We quarantine or completely block all email messages sent to multiple email addresses ("Cc"), unless all email addresses were previous correspondents.
   
   
4. All false and/or fraudulent email content must be reported promptly.
5. All individual emails associated with any fraudulent email case will be published, both here, and at a Citizens' information site.

• All email sent To and/or From all IowaGeeks.com email addresses, is independantly archived.
• We log all response codes for email sent between our and all other servers.
  Claims that "the internet ate your/my email" will be treated as highly suspicious (and usually fraudulent).
  It is your responsibility to learn how to view your system's quarantine, and to thoroughly test your own email tools, including web contact forms.

Email Outage of ALL "Tagged" email addresses:

In late December 2020, we started manually setting up forwards for critical "tagged" email addresses, focusing on high priority ones (e.g. USPS "Informed Delivery").

Some emails were lost (late Oct-2020 thru mid Nov-2020 and mid Jun-2021 thru mid Jan-2022), the rest are all being dumped into one "catchall" mailbox, that we will dig thru semi manually, probably in summer 2025.

If you are having difficulty contacting any IowaGeeks member, and you had previously exchanged consentual emails with them, please contact us and we will restore that "tagged" email address.
You must leave the Subject intact (it's ok to add something afterwards).
